Friends, a dotted line has appeared in my text. It acts kind of like a
graphic, but I can't select it or delete it. I think it was inserted when I
entered several periods in succession on a line. I can see this would be
useful sometimes, but I don't want it now. How can I delete it?

It's a border - format borders & shading.
You can cancel the action at the time with CTRL+Z or disable it from tools >
autocorrect > autoformat as you type.

Hi Bob

It's a paragraph border applied by AutoCorrect. See

As well, if you go to View > Normal, you can see these things there, and
delete them.

No, you can't. In normal view you can delete manual page breaks which
display as dotted lines, but that isn't the subject of this post.

It wouldn't work if the dotted line were a border, which is what the OP was
asking about.
