If you want caps for a string of text turn on the caps lock (just above the left
shift key). It is a toggle and stays on till you turn it off again. No need to
hold anything down and you can type as slow as you like.

It doesn't do it here. Maybe your Caps key is faulty or at your age your
finger is wobbling on the key? ;)

The only thing I can think of is you have enabled some of the Windows
'Accessability' keyboard options.
If you hold the RIGHT Shift key down for about 10 seconds without pressing
anything else, you should get a window pop up. Press the 'Settings...'
button and see if anything in there is set that you don't want...

In WinXP, I found something called "Sticky Keys". When you press and hold
the Shift Key longer, a box is popped-up, telling me "Do you want to turn
Sticky Keys on"... or something like that.
